Sheila Hamil
New Day Dawning
Sheila presents Radio Tyneside's weekly religious programme each Sunday morning.
Sheila has a passion for music, drama and art - all of which have helped her in her Christian ministry. She also has lots of experience to share with her Radio Tyneside listeners.
Sheila has been a school teacher (mainly R.E., Art and English), joint leader of the Christian folk band The United Folk, (check out their 1999 album 'The Best Of United Folk' which includes sixteen of the group's most popular songs) and a Christian minister in various forms (deacon and NSM priest in three churches in the Newcastle Diocese - St Luke Wallsend; St Mary Magdalene Longbenton and The Willington Team).
Sheila's love of music has led to three solo albums ('Giving It All To You', 'Called To Serve' and 'If I Have Not Love I Am Nothing') and a plethora of musical and dramatic worship resources which can be downloaded (for free!) from her website www.sheilahamil.co.uk. The proceeds from all her work, including those from her popular All-Age albums of songs inspired by stories from the Bible ('Kaleidoscope of Characters' and 'Pearls of Great Price') all go to to charity at home or abroad.
You may spot Sheila in Folk Clubs in the North-East and Cumbria as she has now retired from parish ministry so she can concentrate on evangelism and also have more time with husband Bob, her three children and six grandchildren.
