Radio Tyneside is committed to making our website accessible to as many people as possible, including those with disabilities. This statement explains how we approach accessibility and how to contact us if you have difficulty using the site.
How accessible this website is
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA. We have not yet carried out a full accessibility audit, so we cannot say the website fully meets that standard.
Things we have done to support accessibility include:
- A “skip to main content” link for keyboard users.
- Text labels on player controls and icon buttons for screen readers.
- Underlined links within text, so they do not rely on colour alone.
- Checking the main pages with automated accessibility testing and fixing the colour contrast problems it found.
Known limitations
We know some parts of the website are not fully accessible:
- Some pages we have not yet checked may still have text with too little colour contrast.
- Parts of the audio player may be difficult to use with a keyboard or screen reader.
- Some older content, images and PDFs may not have suitable text alternatives.
- Third-party content, such as embedded maps and external widgets, is outside our control and may not be fully accessible.
