Exciting news for Radio Tyneside
30th April 2025 9 days ago

We’re delighted to announce that Radio Tyneside has found a new home — within the Newcastle University Students’ Union.
After an extensive search, we’re excited to be relocating our studios to a vibrant and creative environment, right within the heart of Newcastle. Being based within the Students’ Union not only secures the future of our station but also opens up fantastic opportunities to work more closely with NUSU Student Media Volunteers.
We look forward to sharing skills, offering real-world experience to students, and building a stronger future together. Huge thanks to Newcastle University Students’ Union and everyone who has supported us so far.
Talking about the future collaboration opportunities, Station Manager Richard Finch said:

Talking about the future collaboration opportunities, Station Manager Richard Finch said:
We’ll look at collaborating very closely, what we can offer NUSU and equally important - what opportunities they can offer Radio Tyneside".
We hope to begin broadcasting from our new base very soon, continuing our service to patients, the community, and our wider audience online, on DAB, and on 93.6 FM.
Chairman Dave Nicholson OBE said:
This is a special time for us. Following on from winning Station of the Year at the National Hospital Radio Awards, we are approaching our 75th anniversary and this move marks the beginning of a new chapter in Radio Tyneside’s proud history”.
We also extend thanks to those who reached out with potential locations over the course of the last few months.
Under the steer of the Trustees of Radio Tyneside, the wider team of volunteers are now executing the migration plan over the coming weeks ensuring a smooth, managed transition.
Stay tuned for updates!
