UPDATE 26/12/11 We are having further problems with our AM transmitter and apologise for the temporary loss of the 1575 AM service.
It is likely to be the New Year when 1575 AM resumes.

then, you can listen to Radio Tyneside on Hospedia (in the hospitals of
Newcastle and Gateshead), on Radioplayer, on iPhone/iPad/iPod, on
Android devices and via radio apps by searching for Radio Tyneside.
Should you find a radio app that does not broadcast Radio Tyneside, contact us and we will look into it.
News about 1575 AM will appear here, on the Radio Tyneside website, and also on the Radio Tyneside Facebook page.

AM transmitter has been repaired and Radio Tyneside is now broadcasting
again on 1575AM, as well as online, on Radioplayer, on your mobile and
on Hospedia.
PUBLISHED 17/12/11 Due
to a power surge on Saturday 17th December 2011, our 1575AM
transmitter was put out of action. The part needed to rectify the fault
is expected to be available mid-week (estimated Wed 21st/Thurs 22nd Dec
2011).
Until
we are back on 1575AM, you can continue to hear us online on
Radioplayer (press play at the top of this page) and on your mobile
phone.
You can download our app on iPhone/iPad/iPod; we are also available for
Android phones and via radio apps on other mobile platforms - just
search for Radio Tyneside.
Within the hospitals, in Newcastle and Gateshead, we continue to broadcast on Channel 1 on Hospedia.

Waitrose Support The Diamond Appeal

In July 2011, Waitrose chose Radio Tyneside as one of their sponsored charities.
With the help of Waitrose Newcastle and their customers, £181 has been raised for the Radio Tyneside Diamond Appeal.

- top prize winner in the 2011 Hospital Broadcasting Association (HBA)
Awards.
The 2011 HBA Awards were held in Maidstone, Kent, on Saturday 26th
March. Radio Tyneside's entry in the Best Speech Package category- Alistair Baker's
visit to Durham Cathedral - won the Gold Prize.

Wave Transmitter Temporarily Off Air

Due
to transmitter problems, Radio Tyneside's medium wave frequency
(1575AM) has temporarily ceased. It is hoped that it will recommence
later in the week.
In the meantime, we can still be heard on the
wards via Hospedia and available online by pressing the play
button at the top of this page.
Accident and
Emergency On The Move

Thursday 11/11/10
Over the night of Tuesday 16th November
and the morning of Wednesday
17th November 2010,
the Accident and Emergency Department at the Newcastle General Hospital
will move to a new state of the art building at the Royal Victoria
Infirmary.
During the move, services at the General Hospital will continue up to
midnight on Tuesday 16th
November, with the new unit opening at midnight.
On
Wednesday
17th November,
a new Walk-in Centre, to be known as The Westgate Walk-in Centre, will
be open on the old General Hospital site. This is situated in the
vacated Young Peoples Unit and can be found at the south-west end of
the hospital, next to the vehicle exit onto the West Road.
